Jane Cox
Jane makes highly distinctive functional ceramics. Instantly recognisable by the strong simple forms to which she applies rich colour, combining slip, sgraffito, and low temperature glazes. Her palette of gleaming maritime blues, turquoise and green, redolent of the Mediterranean, applied in bold, curving all over patterns.
By contrast Jane makes Kufic, based on ancient calligraphy from a Quran Han sacred text. A band of fine black cyphers sweeps and swerves following the form of milk white vessels.
Jane has exhibited widely in the U.K. and internationally. Her ceramics are held in permanent collections of the Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge. British Council, Aberystwyth, Crafts Council London, and The Art Workers Guild London.
Jane was elected Master of the Art Workers Guild in 2018.
