Ian Garstka
Ian's lifelong interest in the industrial landscape surrounding the river Thames began during his Chiswick, West London childhood. Family connections took him on frequent visits to see cargo ships at moorings at the ancient warehouses at London Docks, lying in the shadow of Tower Bridge and St Paul!s Cathedral.
A short career in advertising was followed by a move to Cornwall, where he set up his successful graphic design company, discovered the urge to paint, exhibiting in galleries in Cornwall, Cambridge, Suffolk, and East Anglia where he lives and paints full time.
Ian continues to return to making paintings of the the river, creating enduring images of the fast disappearing, remembered working life on the Thames.
