Roo Waterhouse is a figurative painter based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.
Roo's beautifully detailed oil paintings are little personal poems, celebrating collections of treasured books and bookshelves in a series of 'Shelf-Portraits'.
In her work Roo contemplates the (extra)ordinary things of everyday life using oil paint - the traditional medium of reverential portraiture. Her paintings observe and appreciate our relationships with the often unnoticed familiar artefacts in our everyday surroundings.
Roo's paintings are shown widely across the North of England and in London in solo exhibitions, open exhibitions and competitions. She was a finalist in the Artist and Illustrator 'Artist of the Year' show 2013 at The Mall Galleries, London. Her paintings are collected around the country.
